What Is the Dozynki Polish Festival?

Dozynki is a traditional Polish harvest celebration centered around gratitude, community, and culture. The Grand Rapids festival has grown into a three-day celebration that attracts thousands of attendees each year.

Organized by the Polish Heritage Society of Grand Rapids, the Dozynki Polish Festival is recognized as the longest-running ethnic festival in the city. The event gives attendees an opportunity to experience Polish traditions while celebrating the generations of Polish and Lithuanian families who have helped shape the Grand Rapids community.

Enjoy Authentic Polish Food and Drinks

Come ready to eat! Food is one of the biggest highlights of the Dozynki Polish Festival, with vendors from throughout West Michigan serving a variety of traditional dishes and festival favorites.

Attendees can expect opportunities to enjoy Polish-inspired food, sweet treats, and refreshments throughout the weekend. Adults can also stop by the Polish beer tent and enjoy a cold beverage while listening to live music.

The festival is a great opportunity to try something new—or enjoy a dish that reminds you of a favorite family recipe.

Live Music, Polka Dancing, and Cultural Traditions

No Polish festival would be complete without music and dancing. The weekend will include live entertainment, traditional polka music, and plenty of room for festivalgoers to dance.

The celebration also features cultural demonstrations, including Polish cooking and Pysanki, the Eastern European tradition of decorating eggs with detailed patterns and designs. These demonstrations offer a closer look at the creativity and traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Families can also visit the children’s tent for activities designed especially for younger festivalgoers.

Shop Local Vendors

In addition to food and entertainment, Dozynki features vendors offering Polish merchandise, jewelry, novelty items, gifts, and other unique finds. Take time to browse the vendor booths, find something special, and support the businesses and organizations participating in the festival.
