A Cosmic Celebration Along the Grand River
This year, Return to the River is taking attendees on a cosmic adventure. The space-inspired theme will be reflected throughout the festival’s art installations, activities, performances, and riverfront atmosphere.
Festivalgoers can look forward to two performance stages featuring 17 DJs and 11 bands. Whether you enjoy discovering local musicians, dancing along to a DJ set, or simply listening while exploring the Riverwalk, there will be plenty of live entertainment throughout the weekend.
The festival will also feature more than 20 free “Cosmic Activations,” including live art, body marbling, woodblock printing, crafts, hand-drawn portraits, caricatures, a scavenger hunt, free cotton candy, and other interactive experiences.
Two large-scale interactive art installations will be featured this year: POP! by Gentilhomme and Astral Relics by FuzzPop Workshop. These unique installations will bring even more creativity and visual excitement to the riverfront.
Shop, Eat, and Explore
Come hungry! More than 20 food trucks and carts are expected to be available throughout the festival, giving attendees plenty of local flavors and festival favorites to enjoy.
The Sixth Street Bridge will also host the Merchants and Makers Market, featuring more than 60 vendors. Browse locally made artwork, apparel, jewelry, home décor, gifts, and other unique finds while supporting small businesses and creators from the Grand Rapids area.
With music, art, shopping, food, and hands-on activities all in one place, Return to the River is an easy way to spend a summer afternoon—or an entire weekend—downtown.
